We are deeply saddened by the news from Manchester and our thoughts today go out to all the families who have lost loved ones and those who are injured.
The Police will be able to tell us more over the next few days and they, along with the security forces, will continue to be vigilant but they need our help. If you attended the event last night and believe you have seen or recorded anything that may be of use please do report it to your local police station. You may not fully appreciate the significance of what you have seen but it may be the missing information that helps confirm suspicions and enabling an arrest to be made.
A key piece of advice we wish to highlight to businesses who are planning fire and evacuation drills is to rethink the standard approach of evacuating the building and having staff congregate at muster points. A large group of people exiting a building and standing in a crowd is an easy target. It is far better to employ a dispersal technique to your evacuation plans rather than a congregation one. If you need any advice on how to introduce this then please contact us on 0845 872 1330.
In the meantime, please stay vigilant and if you see anything suspicious that could present an immediate threat to life or property please call the police anti-terrorist hotline on 0800 789 321.
You can report threats directly to MI5 on Freephone 0800 111 4645 or on 020 7930 9000.
